Able Seaman William Stanley Green S/No J2660 Chatham Son of William & Elizabeth Jane Green of 34 Grey Street Newcastle upon Tyne 2 From Newcastle Illustrated Newspaper 1.10.1914 " Newcastle Gunner lost with "Aboukir" To the list of North Country heroes who lost their lives by the sinking of the cruiser Aboukir there has been added the name of William Stanley Green seaman gunner of Newcastle, late of Heaton(Asuburb of Newcastle). His mother who lives at 34 Grey Street has received an intimation from the Admiralty that her son is not among the rescued. Green who was 24 yrs of age has been in the Navy for 8 years."
