James' death cert is very detailed and explains that he went missing 6th March7h30pm and was found dead 8th March 1874 at 4.30pm. he was found at firhill bridge,death was due to drowning and he was propably 45 hrs under water. The certis signed by his brother Matthew X his mark and his address is given as 448 Dobbies Loan. There was an inquiry into this death. Inquiry took place Burgh of Milton. the following report a result of precognition has been received touching the death of James McCann registered under Entry no. 244 in the registrars book of deaths for 1874. Name age and sex. James McCann (male ) 24yrs where and when died. 6th March 1874 in the forth and Clyde Canal at or near Firhill Road, Nr. Glasgow. Cause of Death. Drowning.
