Robert Walter Campbell Shelford
General Notes: Robert Walter Campbell Shelford (1872-1912) was born in Singapore. Shelford was educated privately until he entered King's College, London and later Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He went to Borneo to become the curator of the Sarawak Museum and later worked in the Hope Department entomological collections of Oxford University, England. Shelford was a naturalist and a leading authority on cockroaches. Robert married Audrey Gurney Richardson, daughter of Reverend Alfred Richardson and Emma Leatham, Q2 1908 in Bath, , Somerset, England. (Audrey Gurney Richardson was born on 13 Feb 1885 in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England and died Q4 1979 in Oxford, , Oxfordshire, England.) |
