George Henry Cranswick Parker
- Born: 16 Feb 1906, QLD, Australia
- Marriage: Dorothy Glennie Broughton on 4 Oct 1928 in Dimbulah, Australia
General Notes:
While she didn't actually say her husband was 'peculiar,' Mrs. Dorothy Parker, in her action, did indicate, in her evidence, that he had peculiar ideas about a man's responsibilities towards the woman of his choice. She said she married George Henry Cranswick Parker, now of Mooloolah, at Dimbulah, on October 4, 1928, and a period of reasonable happiness was shattered in 1939, with frequent quarrels over money. Finally, she took a job, then, at her husband's suggestion, went home to work for her father, for 35/- a week. His subsequent letters were 'very cool' she said. Mrs. Parker claimed she had been deserted in September, 1943, and, concurring, Judge Mansfield, S J. J., gave her a decree nisi, ordering Parker to pay costs.
Mr. M B. Hoare (instructed by Mr. A L. Steindl), appeared for Bowser in his case, and Mr. J. G. Barland (instructed by Messrs. Stephens and Tozer) appeared for Mrs. Parker, in hers.
George married Dorothy Glennie Broughton on 4 Oct 1928 in Dimbulah, Australia. The marriage ended in divorce. (Dorothy Glennie Broughton was born in 1904.)
