James Francis

  General Notes:

James left a will, made on 17 July 1783, proved 15 May 1784. The original document is held at West Sussex Record Office, Chichester, ref MF199/50. He left everything to his wife, Mary, for the term of her natural life. After Mary's death, everything except some specific legacies was to go to his son Daniel. The specific legacies were to his daughters: Mary, Ann, Elizabeth, Hannah: £10 each Leah: £15 Jane: £50 and to grandaughter Sarah Francis, one guinea, "upon her attaining to her age of twenty one years". These legacioes were to be paid within 12 months of the death of Mary.

James married Mary about 1734. (Mary was born in 1713 in Rudgwick, Sussex and died in 1785 in Rudgwick, Sussex.)
