Joseph married Charlotte Easson Taylor, daughter of Thomas William Taylor and Ann Thomas, on 17 Dec 1879 in St Giles, Camberwell. (Charlotte Easson Taylor was born Dec Q 1847 in Camberwell, Surrey and died on 9 Dec 1885 in Lichfield, Staffordshire.)

Joseph next married Miriam Bates on 2 Jun 1890 in Willenhall, St Giles, Staffordshire, England. (Miriam Bates was born in 1867 in Alconbury, Huntingdonshire, christened on 31 Mar 1867 in Alconbury cum Weston, Huntingdonshire, England and died in 1954 in Haslingden, Lancashire.)
