BIOGRAPHY: extracted from the GROSE, John biography in the Historical Atlas of Wellington County Ontario pub. 1906 starting 3rd paragraph pgs. 30-31 William S. b. 1849, is a graduate of Day's business College, Toronto, 1872. He owns 175 acres, lot 10, con. 10 and 11, Peel Twp. which he has brought to a high state of cultivation by draining and other means, the buildings are also up-to-date. This farm is operated by his son and son-in-law, while Mr. Grose has been operating and has now bought the Fisher farm, containing 250 acres, near Creek Bank. He is one of the leading men of Peel Tp. being a large farmer, and active in everything pertaining to the welfare of the community, indefatigably and enterprisingly laborious, and having figured prominently in the clearing up of 400 acres of land, and erecting four sets of buildings in his home, neighborhood, and also buildings on his son's first home in the near Sperling, Man., and finishing work on the first elevator of that now thriving town, having also remodelled his father's first frame barns, and the house he now lives in. He is a local preacher in the Methodist church, as well as class leader, Trustee, and School Supt. He m. in 1872, first Julia Grose. Issue; Harriet Ann (d); William J., Ernest H., and J.
